Alphabet Zoo

Alphabet Zoo is a fun informational children’s book that features a ‘Zoo’ consisting of wild animals for each letter of the English alphabet. The book contains a total of twenty-six illustrations of wild animals and each of them is matched with a letter.

I started this project with the initial challenge of fitting these animals inside rigid rectangular frames. This idea then developed into incorporating a very angular and geometric style of illustrations with playful and eccentric compositions.

The wild animals in the book feature a wide range of colors in slight pastel tones to accompany the feeling of a book for children starting to learn the alphabet. Adjacent to the illustration on each spread, I incorporated fun facts about the featured animals so they can be read out loud to the children for a complete learning experience.
